Malaysia is the 4th largest economy in Southeast Asia, with the high density of knowledge-based industries and their deployment of leading-edge technology it has allowed them to rival and compete with their Asian competitors. Initially with an economy dominated by agriculture and commodity-based exports, they now play host to robust manufacturing and service sectors. This coupled with 40% of jobs in Malaysia linked to export activities has seen them at the forefront of exporting electrical appliances, parts and components. Malaysia reported a GDP of $364 billion in 2020, which was a 5.8% increase from the previous year.
